About Research
Welcome to the Division of Research. Our mission is to foster and support scientific curiosity in our faculty and residents by conducting practice changing clinical research. We offer extensive opportunities for resident involvement with our local, national and international research network partners. Residents are expected to complete scholarly activities in quality improvement and original research as part of the core training program.
For those seeking an intensive mentored experience in EM research, we offer a dedicated resident research track which includes funded support to attend formal research education workshops and career-enhancing opportunities to become co-investigators in federally funded clinical trials. Current research track residents serve as co-investigators in SIREN, EMERGEncy ID NET, NCATS CDC and NIH funded studies. Our alumni graduate with significant experience in conducting clinical trials, manuscript development, and medical education and are well placed to compete for junior academic faculty positions and fellowships.
Our deep relationships with our healthcare system partners at LCMC Health, LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans and Tulane University ensure that a breadth of resources is available to you to pursue projects in your area of interest.
