Why LSU?

I've never been happier than when I've been in New Orleans. I wanted to pursue my training in a program that emphasizes social justice, equity, and community involvement, where I could learn to care for people navigating generational trauma and historical disinvestment.

The warmth of the people, the radical culture of resistance, and the flavor of the food.

Why LSU?

LSU is a program that shares my values of caring for the community, caring for each other and making sure to have some fun along the way. During my interview I could feel the passion my interviewers had for the people they care for and heard of how they turned their words into action.LSU has everything that I'm looking for in a program that I know will support me in becoming the physician I want to be. (Also read Dr. Holmes' message to med students cause I co-sign 100%)

Why LSU?

LSU is where it's at! The people, the city, the culture. The ability to engagement with and serve the community I have grown up around my whole life coupled with top notch faculty education in a level 1 trauma center. What more could I have asked for?

Favorite thing about NOLA

It's hard to pick just one thing. The saints are incredible (and I've got some hope left for the Pelicans), there's no better place for food in the world, music is on every corner, there's always a festival a week away, I'm close to my family here, and, overall, there's something that can only be described as a "vibe" that you get while you're in the city. It's laid back, easy going, slightly scary, outdated, violent, loving, and mysterious all rolled into one beautiful concoction on the Mississippii.

Hobbies

Creative writing (poems mostly with some short stories, and screenplays thrown in), reading, playing (basketball, frisbee, beach volleyball) and watching sports, live music, traveling, being outside, eating, gardening, film, philosophy, hiking, swimming, trying new things, and plenty more cause it's a big world and there's lots of cool stuff going on in it.

That program was this one for me!

The "Spirit of Charity" that lives within each faculty person and staff member at LSU drew me in. PLUS, I couldn't possibly leave the festivals behind!
